It was all pomp and colour as NSSF made its debut in this year’s Kenya Music Festival held at the Dedan Kimathi University in Nyeri County. The 92nd edition of the festival featured entertaining yet educative performances from students in primary, secondary, tertiary colleges and Universities.
NSSF sponsored an entire category where students from both primary and secondary schools competed in song and verse. The fund took up this initiative as a way of enforcing the NSSF brand, connecting with the young students while increasing member awareness.
Hundreds of students were trained from the sub county to the national level on the values of saving for the future and caring for the aged in society. Over fifty schools took to the stage under the NSSF category with five schools emerging the best and earning trophies in each of the five classes that were sponsored. The Fund also won a trophy for its participation as a sponsor in the festivals.
The extravaganza ran from the 6th to the 17th of August, culminating in a state concert where the best performers put on a show for President Uhuru Kenyatta at the Sagana State lodge.
